Mower Tires Can Last Longer
Because we have a retail division with a full service tire repair shop, we see the full gamut of tires in different stages of repair or should I say disrepair. You would be amazed at what comes in through the door. Just last month I saw a something new, a “duct tape repair”! And the customer said it actually worked for a while.
One thing that stands out consistently is the condition of the lawn mower tires, such as the Carlisle Turf Master and Carlisle Turf Saver that are dropped off for replacement. Unlike many tires that arrive as “slicks” or shredded to the casing, mower tires seem to arrive with plenty of tread left.
Mower tires tend to be “plugged” over and over. It’s not uncommon to see a tire with over a half dozen plugs. The problem with plugging a tire is, you usually create another hole as you insert the plug. The plug will “hold” for a while, then dry out and start to leak. Now you’re back to square one.
So how do you make mower tires last longer?
The solution is flat-proofing or sometimes called “foam fill”. Now I want to make one thing perfectly clear. You can only use a soft, air-like ride flat-proofing product. You DON”T want just any foam fill because hard fill will cause your equipment to breakdown and the ride will seem like you’re back in the Stone Age!
A mower tire fill with a soft foam fill will:
- Eliminate flat tires 100%
- Increase the tire life and performance
- Never need air pressure checks
- Add ballast
- Increase your productivity
And best of all, your flat-proof mower tires will pay for themselves by eliminating downtime expense, not to mention the aggravation of running around town trying to find that pesky replacement tire.
Foam fill flat-proofing is done in a controlled environment, by an authorized flat-proofing dealer. It’s not something that you can do yourself. We use the best product available called EcoFlex, made by Arnco. For more information click here, ECOFLEX.
Have a great week!

PS. It can get a little pricey to flatproof some of the larger mower tires sush as the Carlisle Ultra Trac, but the smaller mower tires are a no-brainer.
